Why I started Affirmations with Alli

When the pandemic continued into the school year I was unable to do many of the activities I loved. I was at home a lot of the time and I found myself extremely worried and stressed over things that were out of my control. I did not really know how to cope with so much uncertainty in my life, and like many people I was struggling to stay mindful. The word 'Mindfulness' is defined as: "a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique." I was never focused on the "present moment" and after months of struggling with that I knew I needed to make a change in my life. I started researching mindfulness and all the exercises that one can do to achieve it. After practicing mindfulness exercises for about a month there was a distinguishable change in my mental health. Activities as easy as taking time for a walk outside were able to help me so much. Seeing how much practicing mindfulness has helped me, I wanted to share mindfulness with others so that more people can focus on being present in the now and not worry about the things that they can not control. One of my favorite things to tell myself is "what is happening now does not define who you will be in the future" and I hope that people will come to realize that just as I have.
